Fellowes®, Inc. is a manufacturer of office products including paper shredders, binding and laminating equipment, desktop accessories, technology accessories, and record storage boxes. Fellowes owns and operates 15 subsidiaries worldwide in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Russia, Australia, Singapore, China, Japan, and Korea, and employs more than 1,700 people throughout the world.*
In 2007 I had the opportunity to help redesign the company’s identity pieces. While remaining conservative design-wise with a touch of color to accentuate the corporate brand, the finished piece is used globally in all of their subsidiaries.
*Trust me. Wikipedia corroborates my information here. Word. For. Word.

Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee of Northern Illinois had me design an eye-catching recruitment and informational brochure geared at high school students considering a career in skilled labor. I oversaw this from the initial photoshoots to the final press check. I still like it, too.

CSMCA stands for the Chicagoland Sheet Metal Contractors Association. Think metal. Think steel. And their corporate standard color is blue. Are you following me here, people? If you’ve seen Zoolander, you are.
Now go order yourselves that Orange Mocha Frappachino you suddenly got an urge for.

“Draw a germ”, they said.
“Bacteria, fungi, archaea, or protists?,” I replied. “Or did you mean microscopic plants (called green algae) or animals such as plankton and the planarian?”

A poster done internally for a lecture series at Fellowes®, Inc. The company has a rich heritage and a diverse group of characters and mascots for their product lines. The idea here was to integrate all of them into a cohesive unit showing everyone taking notes. I drew myself into this one… green shirt? Pencil busily doodling in the margins of my notepad? And take a look. That bulldog is freaking intense!

Honestly, it was a very specific request. I’m not implying rugby players walk (or run) on water. However, I do want to particularly point out that I completely redrew and colored that shark and the water, and the movie is rated G for Goons. It’s all in the details, my friends. hehe

Have you ever had an image so vivid in your mind that you can’t wait to put it down on paper? I love the finished piece.

Here are several characters that I created for the Illinois First Amendment Center. The little red guy, Uno, is still featured prominently in the site’s design. The rest of these characters are tucked away in the quizzes and game pages.
